
SJ began training as a patent attorney in 2015 after graduating from London South Bank University with a first-class Honours degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. SJ qualified as a Chartered (UK) and European Patent Attorney while working for a large international firm of patent attorneys, and then spent several years at another private practice firm before joining Bryers in 2025.
SJ works across a broad range of technology in the engineering and software sectors, and is a Member of the IET. SJ has particular experience in the fields of digital and analogue electronics, automotive and aerospace control systems, building services, telecommunications, and computer-implemented inventions.
Prior to becoming a patent attorney, SJ graduated from the University of Southampton with a first-class Honours degree in Modern Languages and worked as a patent translator and proofreader. SJ is a Chartered Linguist (German), and is fluent in German, French and Portuguese, with a working knowledge of several other European languages.
